How to Remove Static
Static Cling! Can you remember a time when you wore a favorite dress, only to have it cling
to your body every time you moved?
What did you do? While some of us used to wet our hands and lightly brush the surface of the
dress or the nylon slip, others carried around a small can of static spray.
Needless to say, it was a
nuisance.
Today, however, there are methods you can use to avoid
static cling. Here are a few suggestions:
* Separate fabrics that are made of nylon from other
fabrics before putting them into the dryer.
* Remove clothes from the dryer before they are completely
dry.
* Fabric softeners aid in alleviating static
cling.
* Use fabric softener sheets such as Bounce and add them
to clothes that tend to have more static such polyester.
To avoid static cling completely, try not to wear clothes
that contribute to cling such as polyester, rayon, and nylon.
Instead, choose cotton, wool, or linen – fabrics that are natural.
Regarding the aforementioned static cling spray – although
it does has an immediate affect, is not long lasting. Besides,
having to spray your clothing every time you leave your desk can be a royal pain!
Before purchasing new clothing, check the label and care
instructions. In addition, what about nylon
stockings? They also cause static cling as well. One website offers this advice:
Run a wire hangar over the nylon stockings. This
apparently removes the electricity from the material. Finally, apply body lotion and/or a moisturizer to your
skin. This prevents the static as your skin is in consistent contact with your clothes.
