How to Remove a Sliver
Slivers can be very painful if not
taken care of immediately.
Therefore, it is important to learn how
to remove a sliver by following these tips.
Many people have been known to die from
undetected slivers, as a result of septic poisoning and
other infections.
Slivers are small and very difficult to
catch at first glance. Whenever you are dealing any type of
wood, metal, glass, or some similar material; check to
ensure that the clothing you are wearing has no trace of
these particles.
However, in the event that you do find
a sliver, you need to wash your hand off carefully and
disinfect it with an antiseptic wash. You also need to
disinfect a pair of tweezers that will be used to remove the
sliver.
Take a piece of tape and wrap it around
the exposed part of the sliver. Then pull the tape off in
one go. The sliver should come out easily.
Another method you can use to remove a
sliver is to take tweezers to pinch the end of the sliver
and pull it out. Be sure to pull the sliver
in the same angle with which it has been embedded in the
skin.
If you can’t seem to remove it with
tweezers, take a needle; disinfect it; and place it in such
a position that it forms a t when placed next to the sliver.
Press on the needle in an upward motion so that the sliver
begins to move out enough so that you can finish the job
with tweezers.
In the event the sliver cannot be
removed at all, see a doctor immediately.
