How To Remove Grout Sealer
When you have your
floors tiled, grout is added to keep the tiles in place and to add a decorative flair.
Because grout is porous, all matter of dirt
and grime can seep into the grout. Thus, grout sealer is added
to protect the grout.
Sometimes, however, it is necessary to
either change or clean the grout if has become worn or if it turns a distasteful color. This requires that you
remove the grout sealer first.
To learn how to remove grout sealer, here
are some tips.
While there are many products available to
remove grout sealer, some of which are quite toxic in nature, there are several methods you can use to safely
remove the grout sealer.
One way is to take a brush and scrub the
sealer with a mild cleaning liquid. This may take a bit of elbow grease to finish the job.
Another method is to use a product called
‘Oil Eater.” This completely removes tile sealer in one go.
Some homeowners have also used vinegar and
water (half vinegar to half water), while others have used Clorox to remove the tile
sealer.
Before using these products, it is
recommended that you talk to the company that installed the tile to ascertain if these products will damage the
tiles.
