How to Remove Contact Paper
It’s that time of the
year to remove the contact paper on your shelves.
To learn how to remove contact paper, here are some
suggestions.
One of the most recommended methods to
remove contact paper is with a hair dryer.
The heat generated from the hair dryer
will allow the glue to melt and allow the contact paper to peel off easily from kitchen
shelves.
Set the hair dryer at high speed and a
distance away from the contact paper.
Continue this process until you begin to see the contact paper peel. Apply an even
gentle pressure as you remove the contact paper. If the glue sticks in stubborn spots, then direct more heat on
those spots until the paper starts peeling.
If there is any remaining glue residue,
use cola to clean the surface of the wood. Then clean and dry the surface before placing new contact paper on
the shelves.
Some homes have contact paper on
walls. By
pulling too hard, you can rip off the paper from the dry wall as well. In this case, use warm water to
loosen the glue that holds the contact paper to the wall.
Once warm water is applied, you will be
able to gently pull off the contact paper.
If there are any traces of glue remaining on the wall, use one of many products
for hard to remove glue stains.
